Point guard Demetrius Jackson finally pulled the trigger on his long-awaited verbal commitment to Mike Brey’s Fighting Irish. The five-star recruit chose Notre Dame over Illinois, after the Illini made a last-minute push under new coach John Groce, along with Final Four regulars Michigan State and Kansas.
The 15th-ranked Mishawaka product joins four-star small forwards V.J. Beachem (New Haven, IN) and Steve Vasturia (Philadelphia, PA) to form one of the best Irish hoops recruiting classes in recent memory. Coupled with last year’s haul of Cameron Biedscheid, Zach Auguste and Austin Burgett, Brey will have a nucleus that should serve him very well the next three to four years.

According to Scout.com recruit rankings ND has had six 4-star recruits and two 3-star recruits commit since 2011. Brey has definitely been able to upgrade the talent level.

Great get for Brey! I’m super, super excited! Jackson, along with Jerian Grant, Cam Biedschied, Zack Auguste, VJ Beachem and Steve Vasturia, are going to make the Irish exciting to watch for the next 3 years! I really believe the sky is the limit with the addition of Jackson!
