Comments on: A Football Carol https://dev.ndnation.com/a-football-carol/ The Independent Voice of Notre Dame Athletics Thu, 03 Dec 2009 21:31:21 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: ***Christi*** https://dev.ndnation.com/a-football-carol/#comment-376 Thu, 03 Dec 2009 21:31:21 +0000 http://ndn.9seeds.com/uncategorized/a-football-carol/#comment-376 This is a wonderfully written statement to the director of the Notre Dame Athletic Department. My hope is that Jack reads this before he decides who he puts in the place of Charlie Weiss.
I was not in agreement with his letting Charlie go in the first place because I was sure if they gave Charlie another shot at 1 more year that Clausen and Tate would stay and they would have the chance to bring Notre Dame back to their champion status.
Maybe, just maybe after reading this he will see that it should not matter that the school will lose money going to the bowl game, if the players want to play, he will allow them their last shot at really playing NOTRE DAME football.
Beautifully written! Kudos!

Sorry the earlier Anon cannot see it that way. By the way, my wife and I went to four games in '07, two in '08, and two this year though one of those was in San Antonio. We had a tremendous time.

Growing up as a kid 40+ years ago I sat on the 45 yard line, front row box seats, (dad was an ND alum) and never missed a game. It was an awesome experience I will remember for the rest of my life. We cheered, screamed and hollered our hearts out.

Today the joy of going to the games is just about gone. Not only for me, but it seems like that's true for the kids who play the game too. Might be appropriate to ask the next candidate for coach if he can get the joy back in ND football. It went missing some time back.

Be aware…He may go after all the big names people want, but that doesn't mean any of them have interest.

If I had my druthers,it wouldn't even be close – Brian Kelly. He's no overrated Kragthorpe.
He just WINS GAMES.
And that's what ND used to be about…not singing with Navy, crappy pep rallies, honoring every ND varsity sport team at every timeout because they put on a jersey (even if they were only .500). NOTRE DAME WAS ABOUT WINNING GAMES.Some guys lose everywhere: Ron Zook, for example.

And some guys just WIN.

Go get Kelly, JS.HE'S A WINNER

And yes, I hope Jack reads this. After Leahy, it took us Brennan, the Kook, and Hughie to bring us to Ara. Now we are at an equally critical crossroads following Davie, and Ty and Charlie. There similarities to the end of the 63 season are there. The talent was there, the execution of fundamentals and attention to detail were not. The question is the same: which path will be chosen???

He may announce it, but his background is weak in this area.

I heard a rumor the top three are Stoops, Patterson and the DC at Texas, which after last night's Texas-Texas A&M; game is not a thrilling bit of news. I agree defense is paramount and can not be neglected anymore, but what about NFL defensive experience coming to coach. Texas A&M; can get a former NFL coach.

He's had success wherever he's been the head coach.
A: I hope so.

Go Irish!
