We’re running a 4-3 and Joe Schmidt is playing the Mike. The story correctly stated that three starters are ineligible. Moore and Hardy are not starters.

Why only three ineligible and not five?

Notre Dame always plays closer to these teams than they should with Kelly as coach. Except for that Navy game 2 years ago Notre Dame has failed to cover in recent years on opening day. Yes I know Golson was qb during that game but I think Rice will come to play better than Navy did. I think that the defense will look better than we think. I know some of you might think I’m crazy because of all the young talent on defense, but I think our athleticism will show well in this scheme against a team like Rice. Unfortunately I feel that the offense will struggle again in this game because Kelly has the philosophy “If it ain’t broke Break it”. He likes to be silly and change what is working. I hope I am wrong, believe me I do. Go ND.

What’s taking so long on this investigation!!!!!????? Are they guilty or not? Did they cheat or not!?!? Why wait two weeks and so on for this. But I ll say this, you better make sure they are all guilty because an apology isn’t going to this time because labelling someone cheater when they are not is all anyone is ever going to remember! They aren’t going to remember he or they are innocent!!!!

Too many unknowns and not enough depth on defense. It’s year 5 and all the guys on the team are Kelly’s recruits and he has his type of QB so no more excuses on offense and particularly special teams.

The game will be on at 4:30 AM here in Japan but I don’t want to miss a minute.

GO IRISH!!!

ND 30 Rice 20.

It’s Thursday, the leaves are starting to change, and Vannie has given us his prognostication for week 1. All is well.

Except where it isn’t!

I hope a68domer’s faith in Vegas is justified, and we beat the spread on these guys. I would like to finally see the fast-paced offensive fireworks that we have all been (im)patiently awaiting since BK came over from Cinci. Anything less than 500 yards of offense on Sat would be troubling.

Who the hell knows what the D will do? Jones, Smith, and Day are studs. Apart from that I got nuthin’ except hope. But hope goes a long way.

Drink it in lads and lasses–the 2014 edition is about to kick off and all we can be assured of is that it will NOT turn out exactly the way any of us envision. GO IRISH BEAT OWLS! ND 42 Rice 20.

I think the Irish should be able to handle Rice fairly easily, but we all remember South Florida. I think in the fifth year Kelly’s football coaching skills will be put to the test. No more excuses. The talent is there despite the losses and the youth. Let’s see him coach them up. Irish 35-21. This year 8-4, but hoping for 14-0. Go Irish!

South Bend is on Eastern time at present. The next county west (LaPorte county) and five other counties in the northwest corner of the state, as well as six counties in the southwest corner of the state, are on Central time.

Most of Indiana (including South Bend) didn’t observe daylight savings time until 2007, which meant that relative to the rest of the country (Arizona excepted), they were on Eastern time in the winter and Central time in the summer.
