Glad to hear someone giving Matt some props. We’re so much stronger and so much faster than last year it’s ridiculous. Someone told me Q ran a 4.2 last week. If that’s true he’d be the fastest OL since … uh, … ?

Well, yes they’re is an excuse for it. When Brian overhauled the engine, he stuck with Zook, and like Ron, Brian is also apparently barred by the NCAA from watching Penn State highlights. It’s like Vince said back in the day, “the idea of this play is you get a seal here, and a seal here, and you run the play UP THE ALLEY. What James Franklin did was go back to tape of the Rocket’s TD KO returns, decide he had to have his best player returning KOs, and he had to use double-teams to get a tiny seam, and let Barkley Gnarls. We’re hamstring Josh’s chances of winning the Heisman because we won’t let him return KOs and our KO return schemes are soooo soooo Norm Van Brocklin. Let Coney block on KO returns and run some hook-and-lateral/mis-direction/reverses w/Josh and Dexter Williams. Dexter is still on the team isn’t he?

I don’t get the Flutie haters, but I’d luv to see Gus Johnson doing the play-by—play would be a huge upgrade over the Musicaque-elevator music.

And, if Coney doesn’t replace Martini as the starter. Coney amped the D so much during the beatdown of SC it was like that Aaron Jones where’ve you been all my life? moment against the Boys.

1. The Strength and Conditioning revamp was the first step of the process of why we are here. Kudos to the staff for getting these guys healthy, lean and playing mostly injury free football.

2. The marriage of Long and Elko can’t be understated. Their styles and approaches compliment each other very well. The persistence of shove it down your throat, smashmouth football has helped keep the D fresh on the sidelines, and fires them up when Adams is able to rip off 77-yard long TDs. Very demoralizing for the other side.

3. Kelly made these hires and has to receive credit. I’m pleasantly surprised to see that he was able to reinvent himself and surrender play-calling duties. That’s commendable and should be mentioned.

4. I feel that Polian was more of a hire to boost recruiting, not actually shore up the special teams. If we lose a coach to the coaching carousel, I wouldn’t mind Polian being the one out.

5. Whatever you do (ND administration), do everything to hold onto Elko!

The only thing that is going to be trouble is if our run:pass ratio isn’t 80/20. That’s it.

Penn State tilts the field and double-teams specified blockers but NCAA rules evidently prohibit Ron Zook from watching the highlights of other games shown nationally to anyone with cable. Plus, why is it that Saquon Barkley can return KOs and Kelly and Zook hide Josh under the bench.

They don’t want defense, they want offense – they want Spurrier redux.

After years of losing close games and having trouble beating the elite teams it only make sense we all should have a healthy dose of skepticism about this coach/program. I love the fact that we are back to running and have rekindled our Midwestern roots. In trying to look at this team as a standalone entity, I see us running the table based on Miami’s inability to hold up for 4 quarters and Stanford being a little to one-dimensional. The pessimist in me is waiting for the shoe to drop and lose a close game where we get away from our current formula.

Give me a break!!! Josh Adams has better stats than any of the other nominees and didn’t play in 9
quarters. Go #33 Trucking! It’s not too far fetched to start dreaming of a NC & a Heisman. GO IRISH
