Comments on: Irish Seek Elusive Road Win https://dev.ndnation.com/irish-seek-elusive-road-win/ The Independent Voice of Notre Dame Athletics Sat, 09 Nov 2019 17:05:10 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: Seamus https://dev.ndnation.com/irish-seek-elusive-road-win/#comment-24118 Sat, 09 Nov 2019 17:05:10 +0000 https://dev.ndnation.com/?p=48555#comment-24118 In reply to Lorne.

Really? Last week we saw Book’s ceiling. Yes, he led the team to a last minute TD, scoring it himself. On the other hand he threw three INTs which greatly led to the need for last minute heroics. Of course only two counted because of a late hit penalty. However, he threw that cancelled INT before getting hit, not while. With his running talent and inability to check-off receivers, he possesses the prefect skill set to play for our opponent (Navy) next week.

I like Ian Book. His drive and determination are second to none. He is a true ND man. But he doesn’t seem capable of taking this team any further. At least give Jurkovec some real playing time to prove or disprove your point. And by that I don’t mean one series in the 2nd quarter or in mop up time.

Our playoff aspirations went poof in Ann Arbor. There is nothing to be lost by playing Phil Jurkovec at this point. Obtaining another 10 win season for Brian Kelly’s legacy should be the last thing to focus on at this point.

Ian Book said of the last minute win against Va Tech that that’s the reason you come to Notre Dame. That should make most fans bristle as I don’t think the essence of ND football is beating unranked teams by one point on your home turf late in the fourth quarter. Ugh. But Swarbrick would probably agree.

let me see,, If Kelly is still the head coach, it will be close. We make any team look like a top 5 team and this is not going to change until Kelly goes. His conservative style and lack of exciting football is the problem. I ask, why are there so many former players in the NFL yet the years at ND produced average teams.

I think pulling out last weeks game have them a sense of pride and purpose to finish out strong. My hunch is a wider margin then most are predicting. ND 34-17

Wonder if things would have turned out different for Charlie if he had been able to stick around..

Each of our remaining games is pretty much a tossup. ND “should” win each one based on comparative rosters, but how each team plays is a huge variable. You can assume these teams will play well against us, so the question is can we match their motivation? Recent history teaches us to expect an upset or two.

That is CRAZY talk. If you want to lose this game, start PJ.

Totally agree. I’m glad I can’t get the ACC network- who needs to watch another Saturday night massacre?

They’re not in ND’s class but that won’t make that much difference – they will be fired up and if BK doesn’t have the team ready to face that – what else is new?

How many times do teams like Duke make us fear defeat and play tight? Is the pressure too much? Does the preparation by the coaching staff illicit player deficiency? We have seen this all too much with this head coach — Tulsa, South Florida, Duke and the whole host of other crap teams that have defeated ND or played the Irish like they were a top 5 team, sorry top 25 team, a top 5 team would drill a Kelly coached team. And I do not buy “everyone gets up for Notre Dame.” This game should not be close but it will be.
