Let’s not focus on margin of victory. Let’s focus on more balance offensively and more pressure on the passer/better tackling defensively. We need to get more sound fundamentally before we’re ready for the meat of our schedule. Sound fundamentals will result in a 31-7 victory.

My baseline is a solid victory against an overmatched team. I think setting arbitrary point values that define unacceptable is pointless. I don’t think that my baseline indicates a desire for mediocre football. If anything less than 52-7 is unacceptable, you will be disappointed with a lot of positive outcomes.

What is your definition of solid against a Purdue team this year that gets killed by Indiana? My baseline for victory is too high? What do you think teams like Alabama or Oregon would do to Purdue? Jimbo said it. These are the games that good teams win and win big. Why don’t we just give Notre Dame a ribbon for competing against Purdue then? Even if they don’t win by much. I’m tired of seeing Notre Dame being mediocre and sleepwalking by below average completion. No I’m not happy with just wins against these teams. I want Notre Dame to be at Championship level and championship level teams don’t struggle with teams that struggle to beat Indiana State.

It seems Rick Minter and Jon Tenuta are co-defensive coordinators for ND this year. I predict ND will continue their trend of making opposing QB’s look like Heisman contenders, and Rob Henry will run for 250 yds and pass for 250 yds. But a Brinza field goal as time expires will deliver a 31-28 victory for ND.

These are games that very good teams will win and win big. Since I do not consider the Irish an elite program I see a 35-14 ho hum victory.

Tuitt had a hernia guys. We need more depth at defensive line and hope we recruit some monsters soon. Hopefully Zaire gets better and can get into games and become proficient so we don’t have to always rely on Tommy and Hendricks.

If Notre Dame doesn’t beat this Purdue team by at least 28 points, then the thought of last year being a pure fluke will gain more traction.
