The rebounding margin said it all. Ready for Tourney Time!

With the injury to Scott Martin it has become a work in progress and has yet to gel and – hopefully – peak. It may be a blessing in two ways. Number one, it has forced Brey to develop his bench. Number two, IF Matin comes back 100% he will be well rested. The concern here is weather he’s rusty or rested. Martin was on fire for his first two league games, the team was overconfident against UCONN, and I noticed in the St. John’s game Martin did not hustle after a loose ball which he normally would have. Even if he had it would have been a back court violoation but Harrison on SJU did hustle, get the ball, and Martin had to foul to prevent a layup. ND announced Martin’s injuy after the Georgtown game but I think it was bothering him alot at SJU.

A good showing in the Big East Tournament would be nice but it’s The Big Dance that matters. Two and two over the last 4 league games gets them into the tournament regardless of what happens in New York. This year is wide open and the team that peaks at the right time, catches a break or two, and puts together a six game winning streak wins it all.

Different players came through in clutch fashion to put together the 9 game BE winning streak. This seasons team has not played with same intensity of last season- perhaps due in large part to being picked 3rd in the BE and top 20 nationally. The talent is better than last season, but is still behind the normal powers in the BE. By comparison to a post you made, this team is not close in talent to the S16 team with Miller, Matt, CT, CQ, Hump, and Francis when he was useful.

I really cannot stand the high ball screen and dribble hand off offense that goes late into the possession w/o passing the ball into the post and lack of screening away and cross screens to get people open. One dribbler and 4 standing

Good article! Let’s hope the Irish show more consistency the rest of the season.
