Book was HUGE in this one.

Poor game planning to start off with giving up the short routes. Let the freshman beat you long if he can, use tight coverage. Forget running up the middle, they were stacking the box, quit beating a dead horse. Spread the ball around, roll and avoid the blitz. Book’s poorest game, in easy field goal range to put you up 2 scores and throw into double coverage. ND won only because USC stinks…period.

The ’78 game was my senior trip out there. If replay was available it would have immediately been overturned. What a horrible call.

ND ‘LAYS THE WOOD” to SC..

Way too much Book, Boykin, Finke and Claypool for the SC D too handle..

ND 43
SC 21

It’s not happening and this game won’t be close. Irish will go in as the 2 seed after an unexpected Clemson lose Saturday. Irish 33-14

I think we both know the answer to that one, but I’m betting it won’t matter this time. I’m still pissed about 1978.

Your time, effort, and analysis make me a better informed nervous wreck as I hunker down to watch the Irish each week. I feel thankful for your hard work and for the Irish making Mondays at the office great again. Go Irish! Beat Everybody!
